The GT3 RS cars are, in general, more powerful, lighter and more track focused than the normal 911. So it's logical that you would expect them to be more "mental". Well trust me they are. But the 2016 GT3 RS takes the word "mental" to a whole new level. Since 1970 Porsche has been pushing the envelope with the GT3's and I believe this one will write its own chapter in the history books.

So lets get right down to the point. What are the differences with the normal GT3? For starters it's 10kg lighter than the GT3 with a curb weight of 1420kg which is not exactly heavy for a speed demon like this and it's 4.0 litre flat six engine produces 493bhp and 339 pound foot of torque. 0-60mph takes a slight 3.3 seconds and will reach its peak at 193mph. Of course with those figures the car isn't exactly slow and you can get your hands on one of these for 130,000 pounds which, in my opinion, is reasonable for this kind of numbers.

Porsche has gone to great extends to make sure that the new GT3 RS looses a substantial amount of weight. There are just two seats in the car with a roll cage at the back. The bonnet, the boot lid and the front wings are made from carbon fibre and reinforced plastic and the roof is made of magnesium. Also the Porsche badge on the front of the car is a sticker!

They paid a lot of attention on the aerodynamics as well. All around the car you can see vents which feed air into the engine, the wheel arches and the brakes. At the back there is a large spoiler to help with the downforce and at the front a splitter. Sounds like they have gone to large extends to make this car go fast around a corner. But apparently their efforts have paid off because this car produces up to 300kg of downforce. That, along with the harder suspension for more stability and grip give an astonishing result.

As you probably may realised, this is not a car for the every day driver. No, this car is at its best on a track and trust me, its capabilities will blow your mind. Even if you are not a Porsche fan, getting into one of these monsters for a lap around a track will definitely put a smile on your face. And at the end of the day, that's the point of a track day car.
