McLaren announces 675LT Spider

McLaren announced that we should expect a spider version of the 675LT somewhere in 2016. The basic theory of convertibles states that when you take the roof of a car to make a spider model of it, it's most likely to be heavier due to a strengthened chassis and other engineering witchcraft to ensure that the balance remains the same. That is not the case though with the 675LT Spider. This new model will feature the same 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 of the hardtop model and will produce 666bhp and 516lb ft of torque making the 0-60mph time to be just 2.9 seconds . It will be just 2mph slower than its coupe brother with a top speed of 203mph and will weigh just 40kg more at 1270kg. McLaren used carbon fibre and aluminium parts on the spider to ensure that the weight will be kept down and, I have to say, they made a pretty good job. It's even 100kg lighter than the 650S Spider!

It will cost 285,450 pounds which is 25,950 more than the coupe version. But I urge anyone who can buy it to do so, since only 500 units will ever be made and that makes it a very good investment. After all, you are getting a McLaren, and a gorgeous one at that.
