Pagani Zonda Revolucion brakes Nürburgring record

After the Huayra came out and the Zonda was discontinued, many people have forgotten it. Don't fool yourselves though. Even if it's not in production, the Zonda is still around and it's still pretty damn fast. Let's not forget that the mighty Zonda R still holds a pretty good time at the Nürburgring of 6:47. But, apparently, that wasn't enough for Mr. Horatio Pagani.

A couple of days ago, Pagani sent a Zonda Revolucion down at the Nürburgring to see what it can do. The results were astonishing. Rumor has it that the Revolucion pulled off a time of 6:30, which is an all-time record for a production car. And in case you aren't that good at math let me break it down for you: the Revolucion was 17 seconds faster than the Zonda R on the same track and 19 seconds short of the all-time world record at Nürburgring of 6:11.13 set by Stefan Bellof in his Porsche 956 race car. Pagani has yet to comment nor has verified this laptime but they are expected to do so in the next few days.

The Zonda Revolucion uses the same 800hp, V12, AMG-built engine as the Zonda R. The only difference between them being that the Revolucion has a monocoque chassis which uses a blend of carbon fibre and titanium to reduce weight and therefore stands at 2,358 pounds. That's lighter than a VW Golf! Unfortunately, as many Paganis, only 5 of them were built and each costs just north of $2,000,000. So not only you probably can't afford one, you probably won't ever see one on the road as well.
